IF WISHES WERE HORSES....

Yesterday we had Congress national spokesperson Sanjay Jha speaking at Indian Merchants’ Chamber on defining last decade - or "last two decades"- and why, according to him,  India’s growth story is unstoppable.  I must admit that Congress is blessed with some of the best minds who do their homework well and who are articulate, eloquent and effective in their arguments.  The way he deftly handled, in a calm and composed demeanor, expected uncomfortable questions on hosts of maladies that face the nation was a classic example of talking through rather than talking down differences in opinions howsoever extreme they may be. I wish debates in our Parliament and in news hours on TV channels attain similar maturity level. Because most political parties are endowed with talents capable of enriching debates in a way that would provide people with some useful content that would help them form their own opinion.  What we see today is rabble-rousing and talking over each other and at the end of it we get nothing to take home with.  Is it expecting too much? To say only if wishes were horses, if turnips were bayonets!!
